He is brought to civilisation and put on show, but when he sees Ann he breaks his heavy chains and begins to wreak havoc on the streets of New York . Denham takes note of the situation and informs Driscoll he has enough trouble without the complications of a seagoing love affair. In any case, I just adore the original movie which still stands the test of time, so I had to have this in my collection. Near Fine, unclipped dustjacket with a small nick near the foot of the spine and minor rubbing to the extremities. This is a picture book for older children, which will be sure to engage the most reluctant reader and will appeal to children of approx 7+, although it is also ideal to read aloud. Anthony Browne has always acknowledged this classic cult movie to be one of the most potent influences on his work. The text is beautifully worded and is matched by Browne’s equally impressive (as always) illustrations. this profusely illustrated full-color book is based on the cult film "King Kong"; this is the first time this tale has been illustrated in color and the first time this story has been formatted as a graphic novel; as entertaining as the original black and white film;; excellent; AS NEW. Anthony Browne is the acclaimed author and illustrator of such prize-winning bestsellers as Gorilla (winner of the Kate Greenaway Medal and the Kurt Maschler Award), Willy the Wizard, My Dad, Voices in the Park (winner of Kurt Maschler Award) and Zoo (winner of the Kate Greenaway Medal).

Finally arriving at the island's shore, they see a native village perched on a peninsula, cut off from the bulk of the island by an enormous wall. Kong takes Ann up to his mountain lair, where a giant snake emerges from a bubbling swamp and tries to strangle Kong, who kills it as well. This makes a lovely gift and a good addition to any child’s bookshelf, which will appeal to a wide age range. The events on Skull Island had me feeling quite sorry for Kong as he monotonously fought off new creature after creature at each turn of the page with no sign of a reprieve. Although Denham, Englehorn, Jack and Ann are hiding behind foliage, the native chief spots them and approaches the troop.
