Having experienced what it’s like to be on your own for the first time, Bluey reunites with Mum and they listen to the shell, before walking back down the beach together. However, her journey encounters obstacles in birds and other beach surprises that she finds along the way. This book is based on an episode of the show, but it would work well for children who are fans or those who are new to Bluey.

Bluey then finds a shell she likes and decides to catch up with mum but there are a few obstacles along the way. The story is typical Bluey stuff - on one level it's a gentle narrative about discovering things on the beach, but the deeper level is about learning to enjoy your own company. They recognise success in Australian writing, publishing and bookselling, with an orientation towards business and sales. Her parents and teacher give her lots of time to practice, which means she’s become very good at inventing games, helping everyone choose their roles and deciding on the rules. Bluey politely asks the cheeky pelican to move, but he stubbornly refuses, making her think she’ll have to turn around.

After regaling Mum with her heroic solo adventure, they walk back along the beach hand in hand and Bluey observes that she too enjoys walks on her own. Real-life soldier crabs are one of the few crabs that walk forwards, and their swarms march towards the ocean, not alongside it [2].

Now, truly alone on her walk, she must summon all her courage when she encounters a beady eyed pelican. I recently picked up the Bluey children's book about being at the beach for my 4-year-old daughter, and it has quickly become one of her favorites. Bluey, the Emmy-winning Australian children’s television series about a little blue heeler puppy and her family, has just added another award to its swag – in a far more traditional medium. The font is easy to read, and I loved the choice bolded words that are good for early readers who are beginning to read. Though they traditionally feature a lavish dinner event, this year’s Abias ceremony was livestreamed on YouTube on Wednesday afternoon amid the coronavirus lockdown.

Ideally, your votes should be equally distributed within the 5 rating levels, proportionally making up your top 20%, 40%, 60%, and 80% of favourite episodes. From the thrill of discovering a hermit crab to the disappointment of a melted ice cream cone, the book perfectly captures the joys and sorrows of being a kid.
